Government to help Lorong Geylang households get new flats

The authorities committed to assisting the 35 households that resided at Lorong 3 Geylang which has a plan of acquiring the latest Housing Board Flat, published Today Online.

Nonetheless, a few of the households needs to sell their units before given the chance to avail the public housing, explained by Singaporean Land Authority (SLA).

The government declared last June that the property site along Lorong 3 Geylang, wherein the 191 private terrace homes rose will be handed back to the government when the 60-year lease expiration has been reached.

The authorities gave the residents only until December 2020 to vacate the area,  keep all the belongings, settle all existing bills and discontinue all services and facilities.

SLA divulged that out of 191 units, 104  are communicating, while the 87 did not bother to connect with them.

One among the 35 units were taken by the owner occupant or family members who happened to acquire a flat with two rooms throughout the August Build-to-Order activity and the-the remaining three are still trying to figure out if there is a chance for an acquisition of an unsold flat base from the mentioned exercise.

The rest of the households are motivated by the reliable SLA  to grab opportunity in any of those sales exercises that will be held December 2020, the year that the lease expires,

“SLA continues to assist the owners via lease expiry method. Owner -occupants would always be given the first consideration, “revealed in a statement.
